As per Elias requested here is the survey for movie types. First of all it is difficult to categorize the film genre because the genre is based on the setting (CrimeFilm noir, Historical, Science fiction, and so on), mood (Action, Adventure, Comedy, Drama, Fantasy and so on), format(Live action, Animation, Documentary, Musical) and so on. But for our purpose, I categorized based on the mood since that is mostly used. ,

Therefore, I encourage everyone to vote for their favorite and the reason for choosing that.

Definition: The emotional charge carried throughout the film is known as its mood.

Please sign in (log in) to vote and see the result.

Too bad you can only vote for only one type of genre :(

anyways, i like comedy --- b/c it relaxes me and i love laughing, i've also heard people from Ethiopia... 'diro diro' say 'edme yasrezmal'... so that's a bonus reason  ... but recently i've noticed that holly wood is bombarding us with comedies that are filled with too much uncensored words and acts.... I guess 'joke alekebachew mesel'... so am loosing interest now or carefuly check if it is not rated 'R' or more preferably if it is for all ages.

I love mysetry/detective types (lebana police kind of movies) mixed with a little bit of action --- b/c it's interesting I guess

I used to love romantic movies too but after i've realized the effect it had on my spirituality, i said heck no! No more romantic movies and infatuation causing dramas of holly wood... I will have my own romantic life soon to watch and enjoy

Just to share my experience, I've learned to be more selective as the years go by after I realized that I should not put into my time and my brain whatever I got. Cause we Chrisitians have the heart ("mind" in some editions) of Christ (1 Chorinthians 2:16) and our bodies are the temples of the Holy Spirit (1Chorinth 3:16-17), so we should take care of them as such.

Moreover, "Everything is permissible"—but not everything is beneficial. "Everything is permissible"—but not everything is constructive (edifying in NKJV). -1Chorinth. 10:23... So why spend our time, money, heart, mind, etc... on things that do not edify us or contribute for our growth as a person or as spiritual men & women of God?!

So, that's what He thought me.  And as it all turns out, I don't watch movies as I used to. Now my gear is more towards Christian movies.

God bless.

I would have to vote for comedy because if I pay to watch something, it had better make me laugh. But again, as stated earlier, as I walk closer to Christ, certain jokes or stunts do not entertain me anymore. As ratings for movies become less reliable, I am beginning to enjoy older comedies (ex. My Big Fat Greek Wedding, The Gods Must Be Crazy) because they are more family oriented. I also enjoy action incorporated into the story line, but not a full out war movie or anything like that.

I appreciate it when movies have interesting plots; I like to think during a movie (I know it sounds weird, but it's true). Watching movies which highlight the actors' beauty or sexuality (like teen movies all about dancing or something like that), I don't find entertaining (there are too many cliches and they make me uncomfortable). Also, I typically like movies with realism to them, although I did enjoy Chronicles of Narnia: Prince Caspian and even Iron Man. So if you are wondering momo, I would recommend those two.

Above all things, I find that at the end of the day, I never really remember the movie itself very well, but more the time I spent with the my friends and family. I find that good movies are nice, easy ways to bring groups of people together.

So those are my preferences. Let's see what everyone else has to say.
