Jesus' Mission

“Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy and my burden is light."  Matt 11:28-31

The two highlighted phrases can be said the two things Jesus had in mind when he left heaven on his way down to earth.  He had those two as a primary mission:

I will give you rest…..

Jesus’ # 1 mission on earth was to give us rest by paying the ultimate price for our sins.  Our salvation was his primary agenda.  He decided to do everything it takes to make sure we are saved.  As Paul explained in Philippians 2 Jesus came from heaven down to earth.  He humbled himself to become man,  not just a man,  but a servant man.  That was not enough.  He died.  He didn’t just die a normal death but he accepted death on the cross.   This is not fairy tale.  This is a true story.  Jesus died for you and me.

Learn from me…..

Part of the reason why he had to take the form of a man is to set an example for us.  Life is tough.  Often, it is hard to look around and find a person who you want to be like,  a role model,  in the most important things of life.  I am not downplaying the role of role models that we have in a lot of ways.  I find what Paul said about role modeling very interesting.  He said,  "imitate me."  But he didn’t stop there.  He added,  "as I imitate Christ."  In other words,  let's all try to imitate Christ.

Ultimately, when it comes to the things with eternal significance, Jesus is the super model that we all want to be like.

Your attitude should be the same as that of Christ.  Phil 2:5

This is a very Imprtant subject to lead a Bondage/Legalistic/Ritual/Hypocratic/liturgical/etc..FREE!!! True Christian Life as God intended it to be for us. First and foremost we need to remember where we come from to understand not only where we are going but also how we gonna get there. "WE were SINNERS, UNGODLY OR IN REBELLION AND WEAK..", as the writer of Romans put it eloquently...when Christ came to die for us, EXPRESSING GOD'S LOVE FOR US!!! Therefore we had been accepted as we were, prompting us to accept people as they are... not burdening them with a lot of Litrugy... We need to know the Word to fight the enemy but we need to live in the love of God to bring more people to the Kingdm..think about it .. WWJ ..SelahDid?
