How Does It Taste?
By Semere @ 2:33 PM :: 281 Views :: 0 Comments :: :: The word/The bible, Spiritual Hunger

On Saturday nights, after service, I sometimes find it difficult to even decide which restaurant we should go to if I am hungry. On one hand I want “Kitfo” and look for Betty to back me up. On the other hand I am also tempted to go for the lamb chops at Mr. Greek. Whichever one we decide to go to and whatever I end up eating, it always tastes good if I am hungry. But, this last Sunday we went to Mr. Greek and I ordered that Spinach thing because it tasted so good the first time I tried it. However, I couldn’t even finish eating it because it did not taste as good this time. Was it different this time? No, but I was not really hungry this time. The first time I was hungry. That is why it tasted so good.

In Psalm 119 David says “How sweet is your Word to my taste, sweeter than honey to my mouth”. You know why the Word tastes sweeter than honey in David’s mouth? Because he is so hungry for the Word.

You see, the Word is your spiritual food. Jesus said “A man does not live by bread alone but by every Word that proceeds from the mouth of God”. Matthew 4:4. But how good this food tastes in your mouth depends on how hungry you are. If you are already full of junk food, the Word does not taste good in your mouth. But, if you come in emptiness, if and only if you hunger, that is when it tastes so good.

How does the Word taste in your mouth? This is a foretaste of what I am going to share with you guys this Saturday.

Blessings,

The Cyber Evangelist
