Hungry or Just Curious?
By Semere @ 2:14 PM :: 266 Views :: 0 Comments :: :: The word/The bible, Spiritual Hunger

“For the word of God is living and active. Sharper than any double-edged sword, it penetrates even to dividing soul and spirit, joints and marrow.”  Heb. 4:12

Here Paul is saying that the Word of God is so powerful that it penetrates him and goes right into the deepest parts of his life, his soul and spirit.  It is like a double edged sword that easily finds its way deep into his bones and marrow.

That is a perfect picture of what happens to you if you are the good soil that Jesus referred to in his parable of the sower in Matthew 13.  When you sow a seed on a good soil, the seed easily goes deep into the soil.   There it finds it easy to grow into a tree and bear fruit.

What makes you a good Christian is not how much interested you are in the Word of God.  Most of us are.  But it is how deep you let it into your life.  A lot of us are good at going deep into the Word but not so good at letting the Word go deep into our lives.  The point is we need to be hungry not just curious.  It is one thing to swim in a water and completely another thing to drink it.  You can be swimming all you can and still be thirsty unless you drink the water.

Be hungry not just curious,
