“The LORD was with Samuel as he grew up, and he let none of his words fall to the ground.” 1 Samuel 3:19
How do you feel about something like this being said about you. Put your name in place of Samuel’s. “The Lord let none of YOUR NAME’s words fall into the ground.” Wouldn’t that be great?
What do you think is Samuel’s secret? I tend to think that it is all about being genuine in what you preach and practice. As I said before on the October 24, 2005 devotional, words by themselves do not have power. They get their power from the person who utters them. That is what we see here in Samuel’s life. It all boils down to simple authenticity. I don’t think it has anything to do with the words he used. It is all about who Samuel is.
If you have noticed preachers like Billy Graham do not use words that other people don’t use. What makes them so powerful is that they mean what they say and they say what they mean. You don’t hear any fakeness in their tone. They sound so real because they are so real.
The one and only way to have Christianity that is exciting and fruitful is to be real. I know that is common sense. But, common sense is not that common. I don’t understand why they called it common sense.
Be real as the Lord your God is real,
