In this blog I try to give you my perspective on whatever is the topic of the day. My intention is not to teach. Rather, it is to raise a topic that we can talk about. What that means is your response to my articles is as important as the article itself. I start the discussion but the exchange of ideas and views is what really matters.

Even most secular historians do not doubt the authenticity of our Bible and that it is the same Bible that the first generation Christians had.....

I hate it when we Christians gang up to oppose things like this.  We look stupid.

Every year the earth makes a full revolution around the sun and comes back to stare at you and me and ask us questions about how we have been doing the last 365 days while she was cruising around the sun.  I wonder how many of us she finds same old same old,  doing same old thing,  thinking same old way,  holding on to things that don’t work anymore.  I wonder to how many of us she says “OMG,  you never change except you look a little ol

The New Testament contains more than 400 quotations and echoes of the book of Isaiah.  Isaiah and the Psalms form a big portion of the New Testament.  If you are one of those people who think we don’t need the Old Testament,  I have a question for you:  What are you going to do with all these references and quotations from the Old Testament? (that was a side note)....

In my lifetime I haven’t seen a person that the entire world fell in love with.  That is what happened with Obama.  Whether it is true love or infatuation, it is yet to be seen.  But right now Obama and the world are in a honeymoon....

Chances are you already know Lydia either in person or through her Youtube and Facebook videos.  She is a 22 year old girl from Australia.  She shares a lot of singing (amazing vocals) and some humorous clips....

Throughout history the church has been in and out of politcal involvement.  There have been times when the church was the government and times when the church totally ignored what happens in politics. Today the church is not directly involved in politics but politicians in the west are sensitive to the Christian Community.  They realize christians can decide an election.  American evangelicals are believed to have cast the deciding vote that put George Bush in the White House.  It is believed that the overwhelming support by evangelicals is what helped George Bush get the key to the Oval Office.......

........To those of us who know Samra,  what is even more impressive about her is her love for kids.  In our church there are more than 120 kids.  Samra has been teaching Sunday school for the last 8 yrs.  She loves the kids and the kids adore her and listen to her.  I have seen many parents wonder why their kids don't obey them as much as they obey Samra........

do you think involvement in acting in horror films might cause spiritual/emotional problems? I mean, this is just acting.

I was thinking about what is missing in habesha soccer. I think technically speaking the foundational talent is there. What I think we lack is professional soccer. Kids play soccer everywhere. That is basically the foundation of soccer. That is the case in Brazil. But the problem with us is that as kids grow, they take their game less and less seriously because it is not considered a profession.....

At the Ethiopian Evangelical Church in Toronto, Canada we are blessed with a team of singers, musicians, sound engineers, video editors, administrators and church leaders who put together their efforts to organize concerts and digitally capture the experience to share with you in a professional manner. Once again, on this DVD we have been able to capture the concert held in Toronto on April 7, 2007 during our annual Easter conference.

So, is abesha food really not healthy? I don't know for sure but I tend to think we have as healthy food as anybody else if we actually and personally make the right choices. Let me pose here for a second and ask you a question. When was the last time you ate telba? Quite a while, right? Telba (flax in English) is one of the most traditional abesha food items. It is served as a drink or as a solid food in different forms. Besides, it is one of the very few food items that contain the nutrient known as Omega 3 that is credited with a lot of health benefits. Telba is one abesha food tradition we should be proud of.

Looking back, despite the tough ride I had as an immigrant trying to settle in a new culture, I really meant what I said to this man at the Chinese restaurant. Experiencing life in one of the poorest nations and then one of the richest nations on the globe is an experience that I would never trade for anything. Cultural shock is really a blessing in disguise.

What is it that makes us abeshoch think we are so special? I know some of you will say I don’t think we are special. But, check with your mom, or may be your uncle, or check even within yourself; just a little deeper. You will find out. You will find out at least we think we are special. Whether we are or not is another layer of the issue but we definitely believe we are. If you don’t, your mom does or may be your dad.

Any songwriter will tell you that the hardest part of lyrics is finding balance between simplicity of words and depth of ideas. If you can express deep ideas in simple words, that is a recipe for good lyrics. I think Lily is a natural for that.....

If your definition of a man of God includes a suit, a tie, a bold head and some big belly to go with it, you will definitely miss this man of God.
